Hello everyone! This is my first blog so bear with me here.
I have been preparing the last few months to study in South Africa for a semester abroad.
Before I left for Port Elizabeth I was most looking forward to the landscape and over all geography. And that really prompted my desire to travel there in the first place; one of the few remaining environmental beauties.
I was a little apprehensive about the security of the town. I did some research and was lead to believe it was less than safe. Ground rules: Don’t go out at night- period. Don’t take taxis by yourself. Certain roads (as a white person) were forbidden. That sort of thing.
As far as packing goes, I brought with me only the bare essentials. We were allowed two suitcases and carry on but I didn’t want to be walking around an airport alone with all that, so I packed a single suitcase and carry on.
The only real problem I foresee is the country's lack of Diet Coke. But, over all, I think it will be quite a journey!
